Description
I found my self up the mast after the main halyard became like a Gordian knot, tangled on the topping lift. The captain insisted on going up yet I would have been responsible for manually winching him up and down .... something I didn't feel comfortable doing. In my naivete, up I went in a bosun's chair to newer heights of awareness. I had the first "Holy Sh_t" moment when some unexpected waves loosened my grip. Looking down was my second moment of wondering (was I crazy?)... heart beating fast, breath quickening, I finally untied the knot and started the agonizingly slow decent. By the time I'd reached the spreaders I realized I hadn't taken any photos. So it is, that my feet became the star of my higher self portrait, being the lower point of my focus as I inched my way down the mast. Spirit Key, Exumas, Bahamas

Love your story Lainie; and love your image. I can only imagine that "Holy Sh_t" moment and how you must have felt. As funny as your story sounds, it must have been pretty scary! Nevertheless, you still ended-up with a prized photo.

Hany, thanks so much for your great comment! And yes, it was pretty scary ... yet it felt so empowering after the fact!
